All is quiet

Good morning beautiful people, how is everyone on this lovely  May day ?  I can hardly believe that we are into May already, it feels like we have lost March and April somewhere in the process.  I had a totally blonde moment on Thursday when someone mentioned that it was a long weekend ......... I had completely forgotten that here in SA the 1st of May is a Public Holiday, and I am the only one in the house who actually keeps track of the days - I blame CoVid 19 and lockdown hahaha, everything is messed up as Jelly Bean would say, even the weather because it would appear winter has decided autumn can just hang around longer - winter where are you - we are all waiting??  There was some lovely light rain on Saturday evening and a cool day yesterday, but I mean only just long sleeve weather not even cold.

We had a fairly quiet week in terms of dramas and high jinx although not quiet in other ways.  With the increase of CoVid cases and SA being dropped to Level 4 of lockdown (barely much change from Level 5) we decided to do as much of our shopping online as possible.  This was partly due to the fact that I went with my Hubby into Kleinmond on Wednesday and waited in the car for him while he went into Spar. I was sitting happily observing humanity of whom 98% were wearing masks, when I saw a chap who was wearing Spar uniform and is in charge of the shopping trolleys,  chatting to a 'pal' .  He had a mask on and the friend had a thick knitted scarf around his face, the next minute Mr Spar guy produces a bottle of coke, removes his mask and has a long drink then ........... hands the bottle over to Mr Pal  who removes his scarf and has a swig ????? And so they finished the cold drink.  I could hardly believe my eyes  ðŸ‘€, this would also be the gent who pushes all the trolleys back to the shop for reuse.   Getting back to actually leaving the house, I haven't been to Kleinmond since before Lockdown started and we were very blessed to source three plastic, full face masks which are super comfortable and easy to put on and remove.  Hubby has been using his regularly and 10 minutes before leaving I looked for mine, well wouldn't you know, it was NOWHERE to be found and I do mean nowhere. Becoming more stressed and having looked in every cupboard etc I eventually grabbed a scarf and used that, after coming home I looked again and nothing.  Almost in tears from frustration and annoyance I was ready to just burst, Jelly Bean opened a cupboard, where I had looked and moved things out of, and voila there were the two masks. I still do not know how I missed them, needless to say last week was not the shining star of my mental capabilities.  Back to the online shopping - talk about confusing and lousy websites.  I first did an order with PnP (it took forever) only to discover they did not have many things and they don't deliver to BB ( aaargggh tell me that at the beginning )Hubby suggested driving to Gordon's Bay to collect from them but that is not allowed as it crosses a municipal boundary.  Then I looked at Checkers and WOW they actually deliver to BB three times a week for FREE above a certain price.  Many hours at the computer later and I placed my order late on Thursday afternooon, we received everything we ordered at 1 pm on Friday in excellent condition, fabulous quality of fruit and veg and, all frozen goods still frozen solid.  There were three or four things they did not have or, I could not find,  so after phoning the OK in Kleinmond to check if they had, Hubby made a quick in and out trip literally to just collect at the pay station.  I hope and pray next time it goes quicker from my side but as for us this is how we are going to shop for the foreseeable future as far as is possible. We can get milk, artisan bread and even some meat locally so hopefully we are sorted.  I spent ages over the weekend loading the Dis-Chem app and trying to shop for pharmacy items - oh my shattered nerves, don't even try.  What they fail to tell you is only 2 stores in the Cape do delivery of non pharmacy items so, you have to spend a huge amount to get a free delivery from the warehouse.  The app keeps kicking you off and does not give choices on many items, after phoning to find out what the problem was and being told about the 2 stores I just decided to email my order through, so much for their online shop.  What did fascinate me though is you can buy face cream, foundation etc but not eye shadow, eye liner etc, I have all but given up on trying to figure out what is allowed and what is not on Lockdown.

Well folks, that pretty much sums up my week except for the constant baking and cooking.  This week we need to try and make the dogs winter jackets - oh my goodness, that is of course, if we are allowed to buy material if not I can already envisage them all wearing pink from an old fleece blanket.  Please look after yourselves, be safe and stay well, Ciao Ciao
