Good morning everyone, I hope this first day of November is a happy, chilled day for you, It is certainly a quiet day for me after a crazy, busy month. Today is overcast and still, no wind, the roof is making noises as it expands and changes as the clouds pass overhead, but other than that no noise. It is also very humid and has been incredibly hot ... I really struggle with the heat - urghh.
Yesterday I said to Jelly Bean as we were driving that having had cancer and still being on medication together with Fibromyalgia I have become increasingly intolerant to the sun and heat in general. Being in the sun actually hurts my skin like if I were holding a magnifying glass just above my skin, to that end I am going to look for a cotton / linen long sleeve shirt that I can wear when out in the sun or driving. Sunblock doesn't make a difference and my skin will be sore and itchy for a day or two. Strangely BigBear has the same intolerance and he is healthy. 🤷🏼♀️
October was a trial to say the very least. In my last Blog Hubby was in hospital and we were awaiting his release. He came home on the Thursday, still in a lot of pain but at least home. He has a 2 week course of antibiotics that he had to finish. He did the course and yet never really seemed to bounce back, then four days after the antibiotics finished he was right back to square one with the pain being worse than before. Back we went to hospital, spent another day in ER awaiting admission, then the fun and games began. He was admitted to a medical ward under the same doctors and for the first week seemed to be improving, he was back on the very strong antibiotics to treat the infection intravenously and this time we were told he would do a 2 week course of intravenous and 8 week course of oral antibiotics (this lined up with what I had read about the infection). On day six he became delirious and apart from the pain improving, he grew worse. He was hallucinating and completely "away with the fairies". another MRI was done, nothing changed, a brain scan was done and no problems there. The Dr was offering no answers. I suggested the meds, they changed to a different antibiotic, stopped the pain meds, no change. Changed the antibiotic again and still no change, checked for UTI, nothing, all the while his infection markers were either coming down or climbing up. During all this Hubby had to have a 24/7 care nurse in the room with him as he kept trying to get out of bed. As you can imagine this has been incredibly stressful for us all. Eventually last Thursday after almost two weeks of this and Dr. then saying he wanted to transfer Hubby to the Step Down facility. I got a call back from the Dr responding to my messages left to call me. He started the call with all the usual "reports", I asked him what the cause was - his exact words were "I don't know". For me that was the last straw and I am not sorry to say I lost my temper and truly let him have it. I haven't been that angry in a very long time. I told him if he didn't know then call in however many doctors needed, to find out what the problem was. I refused permission to discharge Hubby and told him it could only happen when there was some improvement. FYI, this is the short story. They moved Hubby to a private ward which was far quieter, a Psychiatrist came and saw Hubby, he changed one medication and they ordered an EEG. This was Thursday, by Friday afternoon I was able to have an intelligent chat to Hubby, I saw him yesterday and he was perfectly normal, despite being extremely weak as he has not been eating. This morning we had a half hour voice chat and he is back to normal, he gets tired quickly and is struggling to conceive that all the hallucinations were just that. Hubby called just now and has been allowed to get up and have his first shower in 2 weeks. Perhaps I should have lost my temper a long time ago. We still don't know what the true cause was, but I can only give God all the Praise for answering out prayers, leading us and His healing power. Honestly there were many times where I thought that this was going to be the future.
Meanwhile back home things have trucked along as normal, everything is going well. Work has come in slowly at a pace I have been able to keep up with. Thank You God. The family are well and all caught up in the start of year end push. Last night I eventually finished my knitted blanket, it was quite sad as I have never had such an easy and pleasurable knit. It has come out exactly how I envisioned it and I could not be more pleased. Measuring just over 2m wide and about 2.2 m long I am delighted. See Pics at the end. JB has naturally decided she has to have one, but, not quite as big. Hehe. We have also decided that this summer we are making our own trousers and hopefully tops - it is hugely less expensive and also we can use fabric which won't irritate my skin or cause overheating. Here is holding thumbs.
Well folks, after that in-depth (and edited) insight into our October, we are looking forward to a calm, healthy November. Thanks for reading along with us and I pray that your month ahead is a good one. Please take care of yourselves and stay safe. Ciao Ciao.
