Time to Breathe Please

Greetings friends and family, gee I don't know if it's just me but the days seem to be flying past, just like that we are in the last week of January.  Well .... another busy week behind us and things are settling down just a little.

As I mentioned last week, we purchased a sofa but oh my goodness if I had know how much work and running around it was going to cause I might not have hehe.  Because it was absolutely, unbelievably dirty,  washing was the theme of the week, I felt like that was all I did but, it was worth it and I now have a sofa the same color as our others.  Even I was amazed that something so dirty could ever look clean, much less white again.  Along with all the washing we had a really strong wind blowing for most of the week which caused it's own special brand of 'fun'.   Not knowing how strong the wind was going to be I had started washing the base cover, which is a complicated piece of material, along with the seat cushion covers the night before, and therefore had no option but to hang them up.  Five minutes later Jelly Bean and I looked and both of the cushion covers had been ripped off the washing line, back out I went and put every peg on the line onto the base cover, bringing the other two inside.  A half an hour later the base cover was flapping all over the fynbos hanging on by one peg ....... good grief, anyway in it came and for most of the week we had our house adorned with a variety of couch covers and then regular washing.  Could I possibly have thought that was the end of it ?  Of course not !!!!  On Tuesday we had a trip into Cape Town to get some watch spares and most importantly met with BigBear for coffee and a good old catch up, which was well overdue, what a special time we all had - thank you son.  On our way into town we dropped off 2 of the cushion covers to be refilled and were told we had to first purchase some batting, we did this on the way home and dropped it off at the foam store and were then told we had to bring ALL the covers in as they insisted on inserting the foam themselves, which meant that I rushed home to wash the rest overnight and get them dry enough to go. My long suffering Hubby went back in on Wednesday expecting to wait for a couple of hours and bring them all home, only to be told the foam had not arrived but they would definitely be ready on Thursday.  BACK to town again on Thursday where he had to have car tyres fitted and balanced, do grocery shopping plus, plus.  He then went to visit a friend before collecting the cushions late in the afternoon.  The moment I heard his voice I knew there was a hiccup -  deep breath, they had done both seats but only one backrest cushion, they did not feel the foam was correct for the backs and asked us to try  and see how it fitted ........ it didn't.  I will admit by this time I was more than frazzled and I was not even  the one doing the driving back and forth.  They suggested we have inner bags made for the back rest cushions and then fill them with the usual filling which in effect meant another two to three trips into town, we live 45 Kms from town grrrrr.  I got onto my contact list and found a local lady who does reupholstery, called her and explained the problem, she is a gem, she came aound on Friday took a cover as a template and we will have the bags later today.  My goodness gracious what a palaver.  On Wednesday I have to go to town and will drop off the bags and get them filled which means we can finally enjoy our new couch.

After all that busyness we planned a very quiet weekend, I am really struggling to climb out of a very painful flare, so it has been extremely lazy.  On Saturday Hubby and I went to Pringle Bay to browse in a 2nd hand shop they have and seeing that they were having a Saturday morning market we took our time and enjoyed a leisurely coffee.  We also got into a long conversation with the owner of the restaurant about plants spekboom in particular, as well as a variety of other subjects before giving  me some slips of another succulent, I truly do love this piece of heaven we have been blessed to live in.

The family are all doing well and fully back into the swing of things - Big Guy is thoroughly enjoying his new job, the traveling  not so much hehe.  Poppet has been down with a tummy bug, but I trust she is now on the mend, Princess has already had her first athletic meet and is busy, busy, busy.  BigBear is well as is BabyBear, even though they had a 'speed bump'  workwise they are strong and moving forward.  Jelly Bean is doing well and Hubby has even been repairing watches in between all the traveling.   Currently as I type this  Zeepha has the zoomies and is very busy playing imaginary games all over the show, she is such a busy little kitty and not  a day goes by that she doesn't make us laugh at her antics, she is just precious beyond words.  Her latest 'thing' is sitting outside of Jelly Bean's door squeaking or, if I go outside or disappear she will sit calling me #facepalm.

Folks that's it for now, I am aiming for a good, sedate week and wish you all the same.  Remember to always try and make time to just stop and breathe, smell the roses or, for me just look at the sea and listen to the waves.  Ciao ciao for now, please stay safe .

Out and about in Pringle Bay, sheep and all.

This sheep wearing his blue bandana keeps the grass short
